race
Max Verstappen won the Hungarian Grand Prix with his eighth win of the season, his 28th in his career and his 70th podium finish. The race at the Hungaroring was the 50th of Verstappen’s career, in which he was in the lead.
Previously, Red Bull took just one win when he started outside the top six – Daniel Ricciardo won in Azerbaijan’17 and also started tenth. In Hungary Max repeated this feat, but he had never won before and started outside the top four.
For the second year in a row, but only the fourth time in history, a race in Hungary was won by a driver who did not start in the top four.
Lewis Hamilton finished second for his 11th podium finish at the Hungaroring – and for the fifth consecutive time this season – the longest run to date. Lewis climbed to the second wall of the podium for the 50th time in his career.
George Russell finished third for the fifth time this year, his 60th F1 finish. The podium finish in Hungary was exactly the same as in Hungary.
Sergio Perez finished in the top five for the first time in his career in Hungary.
Lando Norris finished the third race in a row in seventh place.
The Alpine F1 drivers finished eighth and ninth in Hungary, earning points with two cars for the third race in a row.
