Lance Stroll: It’s an honor to represent Canada

On the eve of the Canadian Grand Prix, Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll told the team’s press office what the home stage in Montreal means to him.

Q: What does performing in Montreal mean to you?
Lance walk: The Canadian Grand Prix is one of the races I am looking forward to the most. Performances on your home circuit are always special. No one gives me more support than Canadian fans. There is always a special atmosphere and energy in the air, which makes me always do my best on the court. Just incredible feelings.

From the age of five or six I watched Canadian racing from the stands, and in Montreal I started karting for the first time near the track. Every time I come to this track I realize how far I have come. Now I race in Formula 1 – nothing compares to this feeling!

Q: What does it mean to you to represent Canada in Formula 1?
Lance walk: I am very proud to be competing in Montreal as a Canadian racer, surrounded by family and friends. Furthermore, this race is now, in a sense, the home base for the Aston Martin team. It’s nice to see that everyone likes my hometown.

I love spending time in Canada, skiing in the mountains of Revelstoke or spending evenings on the water in Mont Tremblant. It is a great honor for me to represent this country.

Q: What places will you visit when you return to Montreal?
Lance walk: I always stop by for a Montreal-style smoked meat sandwich. The best sandwiches in town are made at Lesters Deli. Last year I invited the team there, everyone really liked it, so this year we will repeat the visit. I highly recommend visiting this establishment if you want to feel the spirit of Montreal.

Sherbrooke Street is a lot of fun on a race weekend. It’s just a thrill when Formula 1 comes to town. When Montreal hosts the Grand Prix, everyone gets into the spirit of racing and an incredible atmosphere is created.

Montreal’s Old Port is another part of the city bustling with life. It is fun to stroll through the canal belt, where there are many restaurants and bars with a good atmosphere.

If you want a nice view of the city, I highly recommend Mount Royal. I like to run through the park and go to the observation deck. It offers beautiful views of everything in Montreal.

Question: What do you like about the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve?
Lance walk: I really enjoy riding Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as it is one of my favorite circuits on the calendar. I like the combination of fast straights, tight chicanes and technical corners. This circuit will keep you in suspense for the entire lap and a large number of Canadian flags in the stands add to the atmosphere.

I always expect the best from myself and the people around me. It is this inner fire that keeps me motivated and driven to succeed in all aspects of my life.
