Verstappen: The problem with the car’s behavior must be solved

At the final round in Monaco, Red Bull Racing and their rivals were convinced that the RB20 car was not effective enough in attacking kerbs. In Montreal, Max Verstappen expressed confidence that the team will find a solution to the problem, but that will take time.

Max Verstappen: “We know that curbs are not the best thing in the world for our car, but we are working on it and trying to make the RB20 better. It will take time, as such issues cannot be resolved in a week, but we will try to optimize everything.

The problem appeared from the first day of work under the current regulations and we have not yet been able to solve it. There was another call in Monaco and the team has had many productive meetings on base since then. I feel like we are now spending more time on this topic and will try to improve it.

You cannot count on your own benefit: the problem with the behavior of the car on curbs must be solved, but it will take time, because a lot will have to be rebuilt in the car.

Some things need to be redesigned, and this cannot be done in one or two weeks given budgetary constraints. However, we can do a good job this year, trying different options and finding the best one.

I’m sure the situation will change next year, but this year it will be difficult for us to redesign some things. However, I am confident and hope that we will continue to improve in this aspect as the season progresses.”
