Perez: I don’t think I signed my last contract

In the week before the Canadian Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing announced a contract extension with Sergio Perez until the end of 2026. At the FIA press conference in Montreal, the Mexican driver said that although he wants to finish his career with his current team, the new contract is not will be his last in Formula 1.

Sergio Perez: “Of course I was happy to sign the contract. It also means that both parties are happy with each other’s work and I am happy that we are making progress. My team and I have serious goals, because Red Bull is the team that gets the most out of you.

Since I arrived in Milton Keynes things have been very tense, both on and off the track. You won’t find a challenge like this anywhere else. I have never had such a challenge in my career, so when I signed the contract I was really ready to give 100%.

It was actually a very simple negotiation. I have been part of the team for several years, so it was much easier for me to reach an agreement. There were other options, but for me “Plan A”, “Plan B” and “Plan C” was to stay with Red Bull. I really want to end my career with this team.

However, I don’t think I’ve signed my last contract. I definitely don’t think I’ll end up here. I still have two years left in Formula 1 – this is a long time in which a lot of effort and energy will be invested. To be honest, I don’t think about what’s going to happen next. But I’m pretty sure I want to end my career with this team.”
