In the spring we talked about how Heikki Kovalainen, a former Formula 1 driver, underwent complex open-heart surgery at the end of March, which was inevitably followed by a very long period of rehabilitation.
Heikki has been trying to keep fans updated on his recovery and last night revealed he was already back in shape, including posting a short video of himself jogging along a forest road in his native Finland on social media.
“A small update on what has been going on since the open heart surgery I underwent ten weeks ago,” Heikki writes. – In general I already feel quite good, I can gradually increase the intensity of training, but I try to rest as much as possible.
The bones of the chest heal well and the heart also functions normally. The next medical examination will take place in a few weeks.”
The McLaren team, for which the Finn competed in 2008-2009, was one of the first to comment on his message: “Get well soon, Heikki!”
But the most vivid reaction was caused not by the video, but by a few photos in which we see Kovalainen in the company of his son – he will be one year old at the end of June. Probably, such communication can be considered one of the best forms of therapy.
