Perez: Three or four teams can win in Canada

In the final stage in Monaco, Red Bull Racing’s car was inferior to its rivals in terms of speed, as the track characteristics did not suit the RB20. Champion team driver Sergio Perez expects similar problems to repeat in Montreal this weekend, albeit to a lesser extent than two weeks ago.

Sergio Perez: “The expected problems are not as extreme as in Monaco, but on this circuit you also have to attack the curbs. This has a lot to do with lap times, so I expect we will have some problems. But the team has done some work and we already understand the car better. Hopefully we can take a step in the right direction this weekend.

The current regulations are in place for the third year, so it makes sense that other teams are closing the gap behind us. It is becoming increasingly difficult for us to find solutions that allow us to grow.

But I believe we know how to achieve more speed as we have not improved much this season compared to other teams. Hopefully, if we get more speed out of the car, we will be in better shape, especially on other types of tracks.

The fight is very, very fierce. I think there are three or four teams that could potentially win this weekend. It’s great that we are fighting such a battle.”
