Daniel Ricciardo: It feels like we are in good shape

The Visa RB drivers are generally satisfied with the results of the first day of the Canadian weekend, especially Daniel Ricciardo, who finished Friday’s practice in fifth place as per protocol.

Daniel Ricciardo (5th): “The day went well, I had quite good impressions. Although before the start of the first practice it seemed that we would not be able to work on the track at all today, I am happy that we were ultimately able to complete many laps in the second session on tires from both compounds.

It feels like we’re in good shape, so I don’t think we need to work too hard today; we just need to adjust the settings a bit.

The track dried quite quickly in the morning and the updated asphalt surface is much smoother than before, so it seems that the tires are working on it with less load.

I believe that if we have to work in changing weather conditions on Saturday, it will be important to choose the right tires at the right times.”

Yuki Tsunoda (8th): “The day was positive for the teams; If we are talking about me, then I will have to try to make improvements in a number of areas. But overall it was fun working on the track as the weather changed a few times.

For me it was useful to collect information about the performance of intermediate tires on a wet track, because this year we almost did not drive with such tires.

It is clear that everyone worked according to their own program, but in terms of pace we are at a good level. It seems to me that we worked well in rainy weather conditions, and overall I am confident in the car’s behavior both on a wet track and on dry asphalt.”
