Alonso: The information collected can be useful

Fernando Alonso led the protocol of the second free practice of the Canadian Grand Prix. The Aston Martin driver believes the information gathered on Friday will be useful if the changeable weather continues in qualifying and the race.

Lance Stroll showed the third fastest time on his home circuit and promised to please his fans in qualifying.

Fernando Alonso: (1st): “Friday turned out to be difficult for everyone because of the weather. We didn’t do many laps, especially in the first practice. Conditions were such that the track was never completely wet or completely dry, but this could be the case during qualifying and during the race, so the information gathered could be very useful for the remaining days of the weekend.

If the weather is the same on Saturday, we will have a tough battle in qualifying and the right tire choice could provide a serious advantage. It will be interesting to see, but for our team it will all come down to choosing the right tires and making the best of the situation.”

Lance walk (3rd): “Due to the changeable weather, work was continuously interrupted on Friday. In the second training we drove quite a few laps on intermediate tires and slicks and learned something about the new asphalt, which is slightly different from the old one.

We were able to gather useful information about the settings and behavior of the intermediate tires, which could be crucial this weekend given the rain forecast.

It’s always great to ride in front of your fans. I will try to do everything I can so that they have a reason to celebrate after qualifying.”
