Alex Albon is happy that the Williams car can set a good pace on the Canadian circuit, as he did not drop below 9th place during Friday’s practice.
Alex Albon (9th): “Overall the second training went well and it was fun to get out on track and take some risks. It looks like we’ll be working in this kind of weather all weekend, so I’m glad we were able to get some laps in on both slicks and medium tyres.
The car’s performance left a good impression, and when we drove on slicks we felt that the FW46 could maintain a good pace even with the DRS closed, so we can still improve.
During today’s practice I was somewhere between 4th and 9th, so I have an overall positive feeling going into qualifying.”
Logan Sargent (12th): “Of course today was very uneven. We have never been able to work well on either dry asphalt or a wet track. Maybe we should have done some laps during the first practice when there was more water on the asphalt, but we missed this opportunity.
Overall, however, Friday went well, although there are still some issues to be resolved. I think the weather will be about the same on Saturday, so it will be important to switch to the right tires and choose the right tactics in time.”
