Magnussen: The car worked well on every tire

During training in Canada, which took place in variable weather conditions, Kevin Magnussen set a 6th fastest time, while Nico Hulkenberg only finished 16th, after which he complained that he could not find the right rhythm.

Nico Hulkenberg (15th): “Several aspects of these two sessions left mixed impressions. Sometimes everything went well, sometimes I had the feeling that not everything went well, so now I will have to start analyzing the information collected.

It’s bad, we couldn’t find a good rhythm, there was no harmony, so we still have some work to do. The situation is not easy, but sometimes the weekend can go like this. However, this only adds to the intrigue.

We’re expecting about the same weather on Saturday, so I’m preparing for what will be an interesting day.”

Kevin Magnussen (6th): “You can never gather enough information, but I had the opportunity to work on the track on both slicks and intermediate tires.

The car made a good impression in all sets and that is positive, so I am looking forward to tomorrow. But today we already managed to get good sensations from the behavior of the VF-24, it was capable of a good pace … “

Ayo Komatsu, team leader: “I think the weather conditions were very difficult, but we collected the necessary information. In the first session Kevin did a good set of laps on intermediate tires and we felt confident we had the pace.

In the second session Kevin did well on the track on slicks. Although the conditions are not entirely representative, we already understand how the car behaves on soft tires, which is good.

The main task for the remaining two days is to correctly navigate the changing weather conditions and determine in time the moment to switch from intermediate tires to slicks.

I think we already have the basic information, and considering that the day was not easy, we can say that we worked quite well.”
