In Montreal, Alex Albon reached the qualifying final for the second weekend in a row, where he posted the tenth fastest time. Logan Sargent achieved his best result of the season and will start the race thirteenth. At the same time, both Williams drivers are disappointed with their starting positions.
Alex Albon (10th): “Disappointing Saturday. We adjusted the settings slightly for qualifying and the car drove well from the start. I had a high pace in the first and second parts of qualifying, but in the final we decided to go to the track with a different schedule, and that decision didn’t work out.
Rain between practice and qualifying caused the track temperature to drop, causing problems with tire warm-up, which hampered the final attempt in the third session.
It will be a difficult race because both Ferrari drivers start behind me. I think we will have a fight with Aston Martin and RB. Overall, it’s positive that I reached the final for the second time in a row. I think if it rains during the race it will provide additional opportunities for us.”
Logan Sargent (13th): “I’m a bit disappointed because I was blocked on my best lap, when I regained one and a half tenths of my own best time. If I had shown that result I would have reached the final and that is why I am disappointed.
Regardless, we have a strong weekend considering the track conditions and the way the team has adapted to them. The speed of the car is a little higher on this track and I feel like I’m driving well with the equipment I have at my disposal at the moment.
If I start from this position, I can participate in the race. I am sure that a difficult day awaits us and that the race will take place under varying conditions. But so far we are doing well and we will continue to do so.”
