Runner “Red Bull” Sergio Perez has received a fine and will lose three positions at the start of the Spanish Grand Prix, reports the press service of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
Perez received a penalty for remaining on track in a damaged car during the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Mexican hit the barrier on the 53rd lap of the race, which took place on Sunday June 9. Perez was able to return to the track and reached the team pits with severe damage to his rear wing. The stewards considered that the Red Bull driver, who continued to drive and scattered debris along the track, created “dangerous conditions for the remainder of the race”.
The Red Bull team was also fined 25,000 euros for allowing Perez to drive a damaged car on the track.
The Spanish Grand Prix will take place from June 21 to 23 in Barcelona.
