Max Verstappen: All our decisions turned out to be right

Max Verstappen won the Canadian Grand Prix, achieving his sixth victory of the season and his sixtieth victory of his career. The Red Bull Racing driver’s lead over Charles Leclerc in the individual championship has grown to 56 points.

His teammate Sergio Perez crashed his car and missed the finish for the second weekend in a row.

Max Verstappen (1st): “A very crazy race where a lot happens! But all our decisions turned out to be correct.

The team did a great job today. We stayed calm and made pit stops at the right time. The safety car played into my hands, but even after that I remained confidently in the lead.

I liked it – it was fun! Races like this are necessary from time to time.”

Sergio Perez (meeting): “I’ve had a few difficult weekends. There is nothing to do but put your head down, regroup and draw conclusions.

I had some problems that prevented me from qualifying much higher. Immediately after qualifying we realized what was happening – this can be considered a positive result. There are still many races ahead and I am confident that I will return to my previous form.

Overtaking in the race was difficult because you were only allowed to drive on one dry line. My flight? I lightly touched the wet part of the track in Turn 6 and couldn’t stop the car. I pressed the brake pedal, but it was too wet, so the car wouldn’t stop. It’s a shame this happened.”
