Sauber continues to strengthen its technical structure – the team announced the invitation of Stefano Sordo to the newly created position of director of efficiency. In this role he reports to the team’s technical director, James Key.
Sordo has worked with various teams for more than 20 years, in positions ranging from race engineer to head of aerodynamics. In particular, he worked at Red Bull Racing during the years of Sebastian Vettel’s championship victories, after which he moved to McLaren, where he was responsible for chassis development. In recent years, Sordo was technical director of RLL Racing, which competes in IndyCar and IMSA.
Andreas Seidl, CEO of Sauber Group: “Stefano’s appointment is an important step in the development of the structure of our technical department. He knows what it takes to be a winning team, given his rich experience in various positions. It is ideal for analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of our technical activities and solving the necessary problems.
Hinwil has a strong technical team and Stefano’s appointment will help translate the skills of our engineers into results on the track. We continue with preparations for the debut of the Audi factory team.”
Stefano Sordo: “I am delighted to be joining the Sauber team and taking on a role that will immediately help unlock existing potential and help us reach new heights. The team is at a key moment in its history: the collaboration with Audi is just around the corner and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
I’m excited about what the future brings. The goals the team has set for themselves are ambitious, but I see a lot of confidence from everyone in the team.”
