After the finish of the Canadian Grand Prix, the stewards had to resolve a fairly rare breach of regulations committed by the stage’s promoters.
The fact is that after the finish, but before all the cars returned to the pit lane, several fans entered the track. Since this was not the first such case in Montreal, representatives of the promoter were called to the stewards. The formal reason was a violation of paragraph 12.2.1.h of the International Sporting Code, which refers to “failure to take measures which led to the creation of a dangerous situation.”
The Octane Racing Group stage promoters vowed to conduct a thorough investigation and take measures to prevent such a situation from happening again. In turn, the stewards required them to submit a formal plan to correct the situation to the FIA by September 30, 2024.
