Helmut Marko: Perez has psychological problems

In Canada, Sergio Perez ended the fight in the first part of qualifying for the second time in a row. Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko suggests that the Mexican driver is not hampered by problems with the car, but by psychology.

“It’s not about the car – look at Max’s result,” Marco said on Servus TV. – I think the problem is largely psychological.

Sergio is close to Max, but as soon as the weather conditions on the track change, things become a lot more difficult for him. But the fact that he did not reach the final for the third time this season is quite painful.”

Speaking about the upcoming battle between Max Verstappen and George Russell in the race, Marco noted that Mercedes has an advantage in terms of straight line speed: “We have eliminated the weaknesses and found a good set-up for the race, even when it rains. . On straight stretches the Mercedes car is two to three kilometers per hour faster. This means that overtaking, although possible, will not be easy.

I hope that tire wear in the race will not be so high and that Max can keep the situation on track under control. He knows when to attack and how to go fast without putting unnecessary strain on the tires. I hope we continue to fight.”
