Max Verstappen and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet have issued a statement calling for reflection on the consequences of spreading lies and hatred on social networks.
Kelly Peake: “The online world has many reasons to be a wonderful place, but it can be scary when misinformation and lies are spread. I don’t know how to respond to the hatred caused by lies, so I decided to make this statement.
For more than three years I have been chased by a wave of accusations, rumors, fabricated situations, false comments, photoshopped screenshots – call it whatever you want. All this time I remained silent and did not succumb to ridiculous accusations.
But in recent months, the abuse has reached new levels. Those who know me understand that there are certain things I would never say or act like. I am not perfect, but I am proud of my values, morals and behavior.
Such comments and hatred deeply affect me and the people around me. I hope this reminds people to check information posted online before making threats.
I hope that those of you who participated will take the time to reflect on the real consequences of spreading lies and hate.
Like he says [американский писатель] James Clear: “Every action we take is a voice for who we want to be.”
Let’s treat ourselves and others more humanely.”
Max Verstappen responded to Kelly’s message: “This must end. The false accusations made by some people on social media are crazy and funny at the same time. Hate has no place in this world. We know what is true in our family and we are happy together. I love you”.
