Daniil Kvyat believes that the Lamborghini Iron Lynx’s good results in testing ahead of last weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans will give the team even more confidence as it prepares for the hypercar’s debut in the legendary endurance race.
Daniil set a best lap of 3:28.222 in the No. 63 Lamborghini SC63 to finish seventh overall, some 1.3 seconds behind the best time of the day set by Porsche Penske Motorsport’s Kevin Estre.
Daniil Kvyat: “We completed all the tasks and completed many laps. We went through our program and at some points we felt quite competitive.
It is difficult to draw conclusions from the tests, but the feeling is good. We felt like we weren’t inferior in anything in particular.
Of course there is still a lot of work to be done, but now that we have a good rhythm, we have to keep shortening the lap time and playing little things here and there.
It’s always good when you show a high pace on the track. It’s good for the drivers and for team morale. We are not yet 100% satisfied with everything, but at times we were very fast.
In Imola and Spa we also had small speed bumps until we retired. These are just tests, but we wanted to understand where we stand compared to others, and I think we are within the normal range, we just have to keep working.
We worked on two different programs, which is always more effective. We were able to mark each item as completed more quickly and felt more confident, which is a positive.”
