Valtteri Bottas is not ready to wait for Sauber/Audi’s decision

Valtteri Bottas’ contract with Sauber expires at the end of the season. The Finn has repeatedly said he would like to continue working with the team if it becomes a factory Audi in 2026, but the team itself is waiting for Carlos Sainz’s response to their proposal.

Valtteri said he is not willing to wait long for a decision from Sauber/Audi, so he is actively negotiating with other teams.

Valtteri Bottas: “I have the feeling that Sauber wants big changes in the team, and this concerns the composition of the drivers. This is how I assess the situation. They are willing to wait a long time, but I am not. Driving for Sauber remains an option for me, but I don’t think I will wait too long, so I want to speed up the process.

Over the past twelve months I have been told that I will always be part of the project, but that talk has died down a bit lately. That’s why I try to understand the situation and do my job.

I am confident that I will get a seat in Formula 1 next season, although of course nothing can be 100% certain until the contract has been signed. But at least that’s how I see the situation, and I have no reason to worry. The next two weeks will be interesting, there’s no doubt about that.”
