Before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Alpine crew driver Mick Schumacher said his experience in Formula 1 helps him…
Mick Schumacher: “Something happens all the time during the Le Mans race. You’re always driving in traffic, always thinking about strategy, spending a lot of time on the highway – and you need to be sure you can make it to the end of your segment.
During training the segments are much shorter, but everything is very similar: we work with the same tools as in Formula 1, just at a different distance. My experience in Formula 1 helps enormously.
Of course, the race itself is structured completely differently. We participate in the race together with GT cars and other classes, and already during training it became clear that it will not be easy to deal with this. There are a lot of cars on the track, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time it can be very expensive.”
