Pirelli’s fifth test session of the season ended at the Mugello circuit, where the tire makers, together with Ferrari, focused on developing new compounds and design solutions for next year.
On the second day, Carlos Sainz was behind the wheel. The Spaniard completed 135 laps in the SF-24 – approximately 707 kilometers – comparing different prototypes to reduce the phenomenon of tire overheating.
Mario Isola, Pirelli: “First of all, I would like to thank Ferrari again for their cooperation during these tests. We are happy with this support from them, even though the season is now in full swing.
Two days of testing are now very important for us, especially on the beautiful Mugello circuit, where the load on the tires is high – the configuration includes many long and fast corners, which is ideal for evaluating the toughest compounds.
Data collected over the 1,337 kilometers traveled over two days will allow us to refine the field of the most effective solutions so that we can finalize our choice in the coming months.
We will now test at Silverstone after the British Grand Prix and then at Spa after the Belgian Grand Prix.”
