In 2014, the FIA introduced a system of penalty points for drivers involved in incidents or who broke the rules. If a driver achieves 12 points within 12 months, he will be disqualified from participating in the race. Penalty points expire 12 months after collection.
Before the Spanish Grand Prix, Kevin Magnussen has the largest number of penalty points, and they will only start to burn in the spring of next year.
