Carlos Sainz will leave Ferrari at the end of the season and will spend this week at home for the last time in a red jumpsuit…
Question: Your home phase is ahead. Is it fun to perform for your fans?
Carlos Sainz: For me this is a very special moment of the season! It is a great honor to perform in front of my audience and I am really looking forward to the weekend. The voices of thousands of Spanish fans can be heard on the track; this support is very important to me.
I have my own platform here – Grada CS55, always filled with tifosi! I love driving by and seeing the atmosphere there.
Question: What does it take to be fast in Barcelona?
Carlos Sainz: It’s a circuit with character, most drivers are very familiar with it because of the amount of testing we’ve done here in the past.
Turns 1, 2 and 3 are a great mix of medium and fast corners where you can feel the tension on your neck muscles. Turn 9 is very fast and a bit blind because it goes uphill. In the first part of the lap you have to take good care of the tires to get the most out of it in the third sector and set a good time in qualifying.
Q: On Wednesday you will drive a Ferrari Formula 1 through the streets of Barcelona as part of an event organized by the team’s partner, Santander. How special will this event be?
Carlos Sainz: This is a unique event in Barcelona, I am proud to participate in it! This allows people to see the car up close and we can have some fun together. I’m looking forward to it and hope people enjoy it as much as I do!
