Former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya has no doubt that Williams will not renew Logan Sargent’s contract. Juan Pablo advises the American driver to now look at options to continue his career next season and advises him to take a closer look at IndyCar.
Juan Pablo Montoya: “Although it hasn’t been officially announced to Logan yet, he already knows he will be leaving the team. At some point they will say to him: “Thank you very much for the past years, we gave you the opportunity, but it didn’t work, it’s a shame.” They can also tell him to relax and focus on the future. And then Logan will relax even more, stop fighting for a place, and it will become even more difficult for him to stay in Formula 1.
If I were him, I would first see if other teams are interested in him, but now I would start looking for options for next year, looking at IndyCar, WEC and other categories. He went through difficult times, but in Formula 3 and Formula 2 he was very good.
It’s a shame that things turned out this way for him. If you ask Alex Albon, he will tell you that Sargent is a very fast driver who is doing well, but has made too many stupid mistakes.”
