Not all Barcelona residents were happy with yesterday’s racing show, which took place in the center of the Catalan capital. According to the local press, about 400 people representing public and environmental organizations organized a protest demonstration under the following slogans: “Formula 1, stop smoking! Barcelona cannot be traded.”
If the Spanish Grand Prix has been held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since 1991, this is the first time that such a racing festival has been organized in the city. For this purpose, Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona’s central thoroughfare, and several adjacent streets were blocked. Of course, someone may not like this.
However, interest in Formula 1 in Spain is at a very high level, which means that the audience that enjoyed watching the show, listening to the sounds of racing engines and greeting the drivers, including Carlos Sainz, was many times larger.
After the demonstration races, the riders took part in the Fan Forum, which was also organized in Plaza Catalunya, and this central square of the city was almost full.
It will be the same in the stands of the circuit during the Spanish Grand Prix, because the tickets for the best seats have long been sold out. However, there is still something left, but for two or three stands, which are located in not the most interesting parts of the circle, or for very expensive tickets of several thousand euros, which few can afford.
