At the FIA press conference in Barcelona, Fernando Alonso was asked to comment on rumors about Adrian Newey’s visit to Aston Martin’s base. The Spanish driver was brief and suggested not to pay attention to the rumors.
Fernando Alonso: “I have read the rumors, but they come from the same sources that previously wrote that Adrian has signed a contract with Ferrari, and this will be announced at 12 noon before the start of the race in Canada. Rumors are just rumors.
What would I tell him to convince him to join our team? Keep this between me and Adrian.”
On Aston Martin’s prospects in Barcelona, Fernando said: “We will see what form we are in. Every race can bring surprises – sometimes pleasant, sometimes not, so you have to be patient and wait. The weekend in Canada turned out to be one of the best for our team this season, which was somewhat unexpected after two less than successful performances.
We will see how our form turns out on Friday training, but let’s just say that we would rather have rain than dry weather at the moment. We are not yet completely confident in our capabilities on a dry track.”
