Carlos Sainz set the second fastest time in the second practice session of the Spanish Grand Prix, losing to the leader, Lewis Hamilton, by just 0.022 seconds. The Spanish Ferrari driver is satisfied with the speed of the car during a fast lap, but does not hide the fact that he continues to work on finding race settings.
His teammate Charles Leclerc finished the training in sixth place and indicated that he had problems with his balance.
Carlos Sainz (2nd): “A quite difficult Friday, but a typical situation for Barcelona: as soon as the sun rises, the condition of the track changes quite quickly. We had some trouble finding the right balance in both sessions, but I think everyone struggled with that today
Overall I’m happy with the car, but we still need to work on our race pace.
What I particularly liked today was the atmosphere on the track. Thanks to all the fans for their support. I hope I can please them with a great show on Saturday!”
Charles Leclerc (6th): “Overall I had a difficult day. We have some problems with the balance of the car, so working on the settings will be our main priority on Saturday.
In the second practice I rode with a new body kit and there is still a lot of work to be done as I did not feel completely comfortable.”
