In Barcelona, Lando Norris won the second qualifying of his career in a fierce battle for pole, once again confirming McLaren’s speed.
Lando Norris: “I think it was almost a perfect circle! When everything works out, you know it and you feel inspired. In the end everything went perfectly and although the competition was fierce, I am very satisfied.
I would say this is my best pole yet. I haven’t had many, but this one is the best. I was fast all weekend, but it was very important to do a perfect lap, and today I did it. But we are not only fast this weekend, but also the past two months. Departing from Miami we perform quite confidently.
But before that it was not possible to win the qualifying, because it was not possible to do a perfect lap. And today everything worked out. Although it seemed like Max and his team were a little stronger than us all weekend, we managed to improve a few things in the last run. I knew there were areas we could improve, and that’s what we did.
I understand that it is difficult to compete with Max and Lewis, just like with everyone else. But we are here to win, and that is my plan.”
