Leclerc explains strange encounter with Norris

At the end of the third free practice in Barcelona there was a light touch of wheels between the cars of Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc. From the outside it seemed that the Ferrari driver deliberately swerved towards the McLaren to express his dissatisfaction with his opponent’s actions.

The stewards had already had their say and after qualifying Charles Leclerc explained his actions in the incident with Norris: “Lando left the pit lane and I was behind during a fast lap. Then he aborted his attempt, and I aborted mine. I braked to get next to him, but misjudged the position.

I sat on the right side of the track and didn’t want to hinder the people driving behind. I was a little upset and looked in the rearview mirror so as not to disturb anyone. Then we clashed, but it was mainly a misunderstanding.

You never want to run into anyone. The last thing I need before I qualify is to damage the car. I wasn’t planning on running into him.”
