Ricciardo: We still have to make the new products work

RB brought many new products to Barcelona, but both drivers fell out of contention in the first part of qualifying…

Yuki Tsunoda (17th): “This weekend we have clear problems with the speed. We tried to improve the situation and in qualifying the car behaved even better. I am happy with my circle and feel that I have gotten the best out of her.

The last races went well, we cannot be happy with today’s result, but it is important that we get through this difficult moment together. This is a good opportunity to draw conclusions so you can do better next time. The most important thing is to stay positive, and that is what we will do.”

Daniel Ricciardo (18th): “Difficult weekend. There are a lot of new parts on the car and we still have to figure out how to make them work. After yesterday, when we spent a long time trying to find a balance, we made some pretty big changes and today the car behaved much better in qualifying.

We have made progress in terms of feeling and balance, but unfortunately we are seriously behind in terms of lap times.

Both cars retired in the first part of qualifying using three sets of Soft tires – this suggests we don’t have enough speed. We will continue to work. Tomorrow will pass quickly, but there are still several races ahead on similar circuits, so we have to figure out together how we can achieve more.”
