McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said a few words before the start of the Spanish Grand Prix, including thanking everyone who helped his team deal with the issues surrounding yesterday’s Motorhome fire.
Zak Brown: “In Barcelona it is very important to make a good turn 1, this circuit is old school, but it is not easy to overtake here. I am confident that Lando Norris, starting from pole, will do everything right. Even though Max Verstappen and both Mercedes drivers will start behind him, I think we are all in for a great race.
The fire in our camper did not affect the work of the racing team, but obviously had major consequences for the entire program of working with guests and partners of the team. However, the FIA, Formula 1 and even all our rivals helped us, for example Mercedes organized food for our team and I work from the FIA office.
We won’t have time to restore the camper in Austria, that’s for sure, but we’ll see what we can do in the future.”
