The stage in Hungary was the eighth of the season in which Daniel Ricciardo scored no points. After the finish, the McLaren driver made no secret of the fact that he needed a summer break to recover from a string of failures.
“The last six months have not gone the way I wanted,” said Daniel Riccardo edition of Racefans. – I also need this break because of the way the past six months have passed. But even if the season went great, I would still need a break to recuperate.
Nowadays the schedule in Formula 1 is very intensive. On weekends, even in hotels, fans are waiting for us, so it’s great to just get away from the racetracks for a few weeks. After two weeks off, I’m starting to get tired of the weekend and of course I have a desire to get back to work.
I spend time with friends, drink beer, have fun and at some point I understand it’s time to go back. It’s kind of a natural switch that kicks in for me in about a fortnight.”
