McLaren Racing spoke about its program at Goodwood

McLaren Racing spoke about its program at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will be held this year from July 11 to 14. The program is dedicated to the memory of Ayrton Senna, as well as to the 50th anniversary of the team’s first victory in the world championship: in 1974, driver Emerson Fittipaldi became world champion and won the constructors’ championship.

Bruno Senna, the cousin of the legendary Brazilian, will take part in the traditional fast hill climb race driving a McLaren MP4/5 – in this car Ayrton Senna won his third title in 1991.

Emerson Fittipaldi, another hero of Brazilian and global motorsport, will drive his 1974 McLaren championship car with the classic 3-litre Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine.

Moreover, in the McLaren garage you can see another famous car: the M16C/D, in which the American Johnny Rutherford won the Indy 500 race in the same 1974.

Piers ThynneChief Operating Officer, McLaren Formula 1 Team: “We return to the Festival of Speed and bring iconic cars to Goodwood to mark two important milestones in the team’s history.

Ayrton Senna has made an incredibly important contribution to McLaren’s legacy, and the best way to honor his memory is to have his cousin Bruno behind the wheel of one of his championship cars.

We will also celebrate the achievements of the team, which turns 50 this year: Emerson Fittipaldi will once again drive his M23 championship car, which is a real privilege for us.

Our past is inextricably linked to our present, so the Goodwood Festival of Speed is a great way to celebrate the team’s historic achievements.”
