Mercedes hopes that progress in Austria will continue

The Mercedes team has reason to be optimistic as the drivers have already been on the podium for two rounds in a row and according to team leader Toto Wolff we can hope that the progress will continue at the Austrian round.

Toto Wolff: “We knew that in Barcelona we would be able to test the progress we have made recently. The team is working hard to make the W15 more resistant to circuits like Barcelona, which have different corner configurations requiring a wide range of speeds.

Thanks to the fact that we are gradually improving, the team managed to move forward after the Montreal stage. Although we weren’t quick enough to claim victory, it’s encouraging that we fought. first rows.

Lewis Hamilton deservedly reached the podium and George Russell had a good run in the last stage of the race to finish fourth. In Spain we earned a lot of points but we know that there is still a lot to do to have a real chance to fight for victories. This work is still ongoing and we are now on an upward trajectory.

We go to Austria, hoping that progress will continue. The Red Bull Ring is very different from the circuit we participated in last weekend. Many of the corners there must be taken at speeds ranging from low to medium, but there are also some fairly long straights. This promises its own difficulties, and our car will undergo another test.

The competition in the leading group is very fierce, so we must do everything we can to qualify for the podium again.”
