Mark Slade: We have a plan!

Haas F1 has run four races in a row without scoring points, but hopes to break that streak at Spielberg…

Mark Slade, racing engineer: “One of the main features of the Red Bull Ring is a very short lap, where traffic gets in the way, especially in practice and qualifying. The configuration includes an interesting mix of low, medium and high speed corners, the track is in a scenic location and looks fantastic, but poses a lot of problems when setting up the car.

We have already had problems with medium speed corners, and they will happen again this week, but the car behaves well in slow corners and lately we have improved in high speed corners. We’ll see how it goes, but of course we have a plan.

There is a lot of extra work in the sprint, which will make the weekend especially interesting. You need to be realistic: in one training session you will not have time to do everything you wanted, so you need to emphasize correctly.

The sprint format is different from previous years, you can experiment a little more.”

Nico Hulkenberg: “Spielberg has a short but very pleasant song. The problem is that we all huddle together in qualifying, but we have two chances to earn points because it’s a sprint weekend.

Last year I scored points at the Red Bull Ring, I know it is possible, now I have to do it again.”

Kevin Magnussen: “Interesting route. I have good memories, that’s where we achieved our best team result, so I’m looking forward to meeting again. I hope that thanks to the good speed on the straights I can show good results.

There are a lot of fast corners that don’t suit us very well, but I’m looking forward to a fun weekend.”
