Carlos Sainz: Although I’m not quite comfortable with the car

Charles Leclerc led the sprint at the start and led almost the entire distance, but lost position at the finish. Carlos Sainz crashed his car in qualifying and started tenth in the sprint, but managed to recover…

Charles Leclerc (2nd): “In the beginning of the race I attacked hard to prevent Max from using DRS, but closer to the finish I had to pay for it with rubber degradation. I feel like I can do better today. Max waited for the moment and overtook me at the end of the race, when it was really necessary. This is the situation, but we will do everything we can to get the most out of our car tomorrow.

I hope I start tomorrow as well as today, but at the same time I can avoid relegation. The data collected today will help make the right decision for the race. I don’t know, maybe I’ll start with a harder line-up tomorrow, but there is no certainty about that for the time being. We will study the telemetry and make the right decision.”

Carlos Sainz (4th): “Considering the way today’s sprint turned out for me, I gave it my all. I knew I had to at least get in the top five, better in the top four, and today I was able to do it. Good day, good result, tomorrow I will be ready to fight with everyone.

I’m happy when it looks like I’m comfortable from the outside, in fact I’m not quite so. Mistakes like yesterday’s crash in qualifying mean I’m not 100% happy with the car, but I want to get comfortable as soon as possible and pick up the style of driving.

I know that once I’ve found the right compromise, once I’m comfortable in the car, I can be as fast as everyone else.
