Last week in Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton stood on the podium for the first time this season. In Austria, the Mercedes driver said that this result shows the progress of the team.
Lewis Hamilton: “It’s nice to have races like Barcelona. It’s not always possible to have a race where you can work your elbows and have great overtaking, but I really enjoyed it in Barcelona. I have been performing strongly on the Spanish circuit for many years.
The flame is still burning, so the team just needs to keep it going and provide fuel for it.
I believe our entire team is on the rise now. Not necessarily at the top of their game, but everyone on the team has a lot of energy. Now we know in which direction we have to work, and personally I am happy to return to a competitive level. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, I just want to continue working in the chosen direction.
Normally our car wasn’t very fast at the start of the weekend, but we worked hard on it and in Montreal we drove fast from the first lap. Perhaps this is an isolated case; we’ll find out tomorrow. But I like sprint weekends because you don’t have much time to adapt.”
