Max Verstappen showed up at the FIA press conference in Spielberg yesterday about 15 minutes late but avoided a fine, although teams and drivers are usually responsible for adhering to the weekend schedule and such infractions are punished.
The three-time world champion and a representative of Red Bull Racing were summoned to the stewards, after which the federation confirmed that the team would not be punished as the delay was due to reasons beyond its control.
On the way to the circuit, transport problems appeared to arise: Verstappen arrived in Austria by private plane, but the flight was delayed and there was no influence on that. Formally, arriving late at an official press conference is interpreted as a violation, but this time there was no penalty.
The stewards also took into account that the team warned in advance of unforeseen delays.
“The driver suffered from some transport problems that arose on the way to the track, but the team informed the FIA in advance…” the federation’s official document reads.
However, when Max joined the rest of the participants at the press conference, he managed to answer all the questions addressed to him, reaffirming that his plans for 2025 relate exclusively to Red Bull Racing.
