Not all teams have prepared technical innovations for the Austrian stage of the championship, which is partly explained by the density of this stage of the season, which sees three races in a row at weekly intervals.
Red Bull Racing, Aston Martin, Alpine, Williams and Haas have not informed the FIA about any new products.
Mercedes
The W15 car received a modernized additional rear wing. As the team’s explanation shows, the change in the geometry of the plane is related to the need to reduce the aerodynamic load and drag at the rear of the car – in accordance with the characteristics of the Spielberg circuit.
Ferrari
The Scuderia reported a change in the configuration of the SF24 engine case, which now features additional fins that provide more efficient airflow to the cooling system. The measure is quite logical, because the Austrian Grand Prix is often accompanied by high ambient temperatures.
McLaren
McLaren announced two improvements, both related to the front of the car and interlinked. The updated geometry of the front wing improves the quality of the airflow, while the wing works in conjunction with an improved front suspension.
Visa RB
The Faenza team made the only change: the geometry of the small aerodynamic elements, called ‘winglets’, located on the rear brake drum housings, was adjusted. This is done to improve the quality of the airflow at the back of the machine.
Sauber
The Swiss team has introduced a new additional rear wing, which will reduce drag somewhat and generally increase aerodynamic efficiency at the rear of the car. The characteristics of the Austrian route were taken into account.
