Red Bull rider Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix.
The current world champion and Formula 1 season leader completed a lap in 1 minute 5.685 seconds in his fastest attempt. The second result was shown by the Australian driver McLaren. Oscar Piastri (+0.276), third was the Monegasque Charles Leclerc of the Ferrari team (+0.370).
The session was interrupted by red flags due to technical problems with Verstappen’s car, who was then able to return to the track and continue his practice.
