Verstappen suffered technical problems but set fastest time in first practice for Austrian Grand Prix

Red Bull rider Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix.

The current world champion and Formula 1 season leader completed a lap in 1 minute 5.685 seconds in his fastest attempt. The second result was shown by the Australian driver McLaren. Oscar Piastri (+0.276), third was the Monegasque Charles Leclerc of the Ferrari team (+0.370).

The session was interrupted by red flags due to technical problems with Verstappen’s car, who was then able to return to the track and continue his practice.

The race weekend in Austria will continue with sprint qualifying, which will take place later on Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m. Moscow time.
