As you would expect, Max Verstappen got off to a strong start to his team’s home weekend in Austria, with the Red Bull Racing driver winning qualifying ahead of tomorrow’s sprint.
When he crossed the finish line, having set the fastest time, the stands seemed to explode, as in addition to the local crowd, an army of 30,000 Dutch fans arrived in Spielberg.
Max Verstappen (1st): “It’s great that I showed the best time in front of the stands, mainly filled with my fans, during my home Grand Prix. So far everything is going well!
It was very comfortable to drive, the car has a good balance and before qualifying we made some small changes to the settings and everything works fine.
A good start to the weekend and although there is still a lot to do, I am pleased with today’s results. McLaren is quite behind us, but that doesn’t worry me too much. I’m going to enjoy this evening and tomorrow we’ll make another attempt.”
