After qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix, McLaren protested the results because Oscar Piastri’s best lap in the final was disregarded. The stewards reviewed the protest and dismissed it.
The published decision of the stewards states that, in accordance with paragraph 12.3.3 of the International Sporting Code, the decision of the stewards is not subject to appeal.
Furthermore, the McLaren protest failed to meet a number of formal requirements for such documents. In particular, the protest was addressed to a representative of the circuit, rather than to the chairman of the stewards; the protest did not formally list the articles that were being violated, and the protest did not specify against whom it was being made.
Based on all these points, the stewards rejected the protest and declared it inadmissible. The qualifying results were confirmed: Oscar Piastri remained seventh.
