Athletistic/Formula-1. ESPN reports that Australian driver Oscar Piastri signed a pre-contract with McLaren before the Alpine, unbeknownst to him, announced he was to replace Fernando Alonso next season.
According to the contract, Piastri should spend the next season as a reserve driver, and in 2024 replace Ricciardo. If McLaren decides to terminate the contract with Ricciardo, the team will have to pay the Australian multimillion-dollar compensation, and only then Piastri will be able to play for McLaren in 2023.
