The Sauber team has yet to score any points this season and the Austrian stage was no exception…
Valtteri Bottas (16th): “Despite everything, Sunday’s race was our best session of the weekend. Not much happened around me, but in terms of pace everything was a little better than in the sprint.
We were able to keep the tires running in a much wider range of conditions which certainly helped, although they are quite susceptible to overheating at this temperature.
We have to pick up the pace for Silverstone. The direction of the movement is clear: we must move forward and introduce new details, we have seen how they change the situation in other teams. We may have opportunities at Silverstone, but it is important to make the most of them.”
Guanyu Zhou (17th): “The weekend proved difficult for us, but today the race went smoothly. Due to changes in the settings I had to start from the pit lane. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough speed to gain more positions, and the tires overheated faster than those of our rivals, although we handled them better today.
We know our weaknesses and we need to work hard as a team – both on track and in Hinwil – to achieve greater speed, both in the fastest lap and over the race distance. Hopefully we will be closer to the battle for the points at Silverstone.”
