Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton could become the owner of a MotoGP team. Informed sources say that the riders’ representatives are in negotiations with Gresini Racing.
Last weekend, Hamilton’s representatives came to the MotoGP podium in Assen and were spotted at the team’s location. It is believed that Lewis has already made an offer to Gresini Racing boss Nadia Padovani to buy out her share.
Buying the MotoGP team, which partners with Ducati, could be financially profitable for Hamilton. Mercedes team sponsors are already present in MotoGP and Lewis could try to enlist the support of Monster Energy and Petronas to join the Gresini Racing project.
The potential purchase of a racing team will not be Hamilton’s first experience with owning sports assets. For example, his X44 team became champions of the Extreme E electric series in 2022. Also in 2022, Lewis became part owner of the Denver Broncos American football team that plays in the NFL.
