Valtteri Bottas: We want to be back in the fight

The season is going badly for Sauber, the team has not yet earned any points, but hopes to return to contention…

Alessandro Aluni Braviteam spokesman: “The final stage of a three-race series is an opportunity to take a step forward at a decisive moment in the season. Such a busy schedule has its advantages: racing every week allows you to stay on track and carry over the experience from one weekend to the next.

Between Barcelona and Spielberg we gathered a lot of information, and although Silverstone is a very different circuit, there will be elements where the experience of the last two races will be useful.

“You have to take advantage of every training, get the most out of every session and then qualify and race perfectly. We are determined to take a step forward this weekend and get back into contention.”

Valtteri Bottas: “The Silverstone round is a special event. The classic track, even in its current form, retains its uniqueness. Fast, technical and demanding on the skill of the driver. There are opportunities to overtake and you feel the pleasure of fighting.

Of course we want to take a step forward, to close the gap with those ahead of us. If we get the most out of the training and find the optimal settings, there is a chance to compete with our opponents.”

Guanyu Zhou: “I’m looking forward to this race. Silverstone is one of those legendary circuits, like Spa or Suzuka, that seems to have been created to push the limits of our cars. There’s the Copse corner, the Maggotts-Becketts combination – when you drive through it, you experience incredible sensations in the cockpit, especially in qualifying, and there’s an opportunity to fight for position.

We know what we need to work on to achieve greater efficiency: it is very important to get the car in optimal conditions as early as possible to be able to fine-tune the settings in subsequent sessions. If we can realise our potential at 100%, we will be able to fight with our opponents.”
