Oliver Berman to be Haas F1’s lead driver in 2025

Haas F1 has signed a contract with Briton Oliver Berman. In 2025, a Ferrari Academy student will become the lead driver of the American team. The name of his partner will be announced later.

In January of this year, Berman became the official reserve driver for Haas F1 Team and will lead the team through the team’s first six practice sessions, driving the VF-24 for the third time this weekend at Silverstone, followed by Hungary, Mexico and Abu Dhabi.

Ayo Komatsu: “We have an incredible opportunity to give a talented young driver his first contract with a Formula 1 team. At the Ferrari Youth Academy, he became an incredibly mature driver, as the world saw when he was called up at the last minute as a replacement at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Oliver has proven himself more than up to the task, as we saw first-hand when we worked with him behind the wheel of the Haas during early practice sessions over the past two seasons.

We look forward to developing him further as a driver and utilising his talent – both inside and outside the car. “Oliver is a great guy and we now know that this relationship is for the long term.”

Gen HaasTeam Owner: “I am delighted that we have been able to give Oliver the opportunity to compete in Formula 1. He is an exciting newcomer, not only because of what he has shown in Saudi Arabia, but also because of the development of his relationship with our team. I look forward to watching him grow as a professional, just as we are all looking forward to him driving for the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team next season and beyond.”

Oliver Berman: “It’s hard to put into words how much this means to me. Becoming a Formula 1 driver with Haas F1 is a source of pride. I will be one of the few who gets the chance to do what I dreamed of as a child.

“I thank Gene, Ayo and everyone at Haas for believing in me and trusting me to represent your team. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you since our first meeting in Mexico and look forward to continuing.”
