On Thursday, Haas announced the signing of Ferrari Racing Academy member Oliver Berman for the 2025 season. The British racer has already spoken to journalists and said he has not yet discussed with the Scuderia what results he needs to achieve in his debut season.
Oliver Berman: “In Formula 1, nothing can be considered official until the contract is signed. Of course, I have known for a long time that we are working on a contract and are close to agreements. But it could not be celebrated too early, because in Formula 1 everything changes very quickly and you are only as good as your last race. So I was relieved when the documents were finally signed. At that moment I was with my manager and I shared my emotions with him. It was quite an emotional moment.
“We haven’t discussed anything concrete with Ferrari for 2025 yet. I still have to meet them and discuss what specific results they expect. But I don’t think their expectations will be higher than mine, as I am already too strict with myself. I demand high results from myself from the start, so I don’t need any extra motivation or pressure.”
When asked if he would consider replacing Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari in the coming years if the seven-time world champion retires, Oliver said: “It’s very difficult not to think about that prospect, but I really don’t think about it.”
Oliver Berman also confirmed that he will wear number 87 in 2025.
