On Thursday at Silverstone, the press asked Max Verstappen mainly about the collision with Lando Norris at Spielberg and the consequences this could have. Max responded in his own way that he “didn’t like criticism”, but that it was important for him to maintain friendly relations with the McLaren driver.
Max Verstappen: “I don’t care what they say. I went home and lived my life. The only thing that matters to me is maintaining my relationship with Lando, as we are good friends.
As I said after the race, we had to cool down because emotions were running high. Lando and I spoke on Monday and I think we came to the conclusion that we both enjoyed our fight.
We both watched the incident and realized that a stupid little thing had huge consequences for both of us. For Lando, of course, they turned out to be more serious.
He and I love the intense competition in racing. We’ve been doing it for years, not only in Formula 1 but also online, and we have a lot of fun together. We have to keep going because we love what we do. I think it’s great for Formula 1 as well.”
