Not so long ago Pierre Gasly extended his contract with Alpine for next season. The name of his partner has not yet been mentioned and at Silverstone journalists asked the French driver who he would like to see in the team of three Mick Schumacher, Jack Douhan and Carlos Sainz.
Pierre Gasly: “Honestly, I will be happy, no matter who my partner is. You know, I like competition, so I want a strong driver to perform with me, who will lead the team.
Carlos brings value to the team: he has a lot of experience and has driven for strong teams like McLaren and Ferrari. He can give us more than the others, so he is the best option.
But you know, Jack and Mick are talented and very fast. They’re both already in the team and know our guys. I’m sure they’ll adapt very well.
“I think it’s pretty clear that there are more riders available than there are places available at the moment, so a number of guys are going to be out of contract. I don’t think we’ll see any movement in the driver market until Carlos makes a decision. He’s the most valuable driver at the moment.”
